Mark A. Tyson was an Extension Associate with the Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences Extension Unit of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. He specialized in feral hog education and providing technical assistance to landowners and land managers seeking to control feral hogs on their property. Mark has a B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Sul Ross State University and a M.S. in Wildlife, Aquatic, and Wildlands Science and Management from Texas Tech University. Prior to working for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, he worked as a Wildlife Biologist for the 32,000 acre Circle Ranch in far west Texas.
Mark was working within a thirteen county area of southeastern Texas to reduce the environmental impacts of feral hogs. His emphasis on best management practices (BMPs) for feral hog control provided landowners with the tools needed to reduce feral hog populations on their property. Mark also worked to increase citizens’ awareness of feral hogs and their negative environmental impacts by conducting watershed-based feral hog educational presentations and through a variety of online and social media outlets including: the Feral Hogs Facebook page, the Wild Wonderings Blog and the former Wild Pigs Scoop.it! page.
