Denise Harmel-Garza is an Extension Associate with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in the Wildlife and Fisheries (WFSC) Department at Texas A&M in College Station. Denise earned her B.S. and M.S. in Wildlife Science from Texas A&M. Denise believes that wildlife conservation plays a vital role in connecting people to natural processes. She works on the Hunter Education Program. This program is a partnership among the WFSC Department, Texas 4-H and Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPW). This partnership receives funding from the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Program. Denise certifies Hunter Education Instructors and volunteers within the Texas 4-H Hunting Discipline. She works closely with volunteers, County Extension Agents, TPW and 4-H Clubs. The goal of this project is not only to ensure the sustainability of hunting in Texas, but to increase participation in hunting across the state through grass-roots county efforts.
